A single discipline should never be the main goal. Disciplines should be used as part of a bigger strategy for accomplishing a goal.

Many habits are chosen for the enjoyment of it. Like drinking coffee. Others are for the ease. Like calling a best friend. Though any habit that is not inherently bad, such as smoking, can provide the structure and routine we desire, the question we should be asking of our habits is: do these disciplines serve the goals I have for my life? If they don’t, we must find ones that will take us where we want to go.

But first, we must know. where we are.
